Mother's Day!

Seeing how close we are to this year's Kentucky Derby, I get a unique chance at a metaphor here.
We're closing in on the 2nd jewel of the "Triple Crown" of brunch races in just a couple of weekends. If Easter kicks things off as the Kentucky Derby of brunches - the hype, the excitement, the energy - Mother's Day comes just a few short weekends later as the elegant, refined, brunch that lets us celebrate Mom.
I'm not sure how many of you know this, but those cute and elegant little flower pots in the middle of our tables are made by none other than my Mom. I always knew there was some artistic creativity in there she had, whether it was obvious or I was just too much of a troublemaker to even really notice it, but consider me surprised the first time I walked into her basement to see it full of paint, pots, plants, and finished works. At the time I didn't know I was going to need her skills, but as we approached getting to our final design with our architects, Bailey and I knew we needed to "hire" her to make all of them for us.
Anyways - that's always a fun story that I love sharing. It's always such a great segue into chatting with guests that come in and spend time looking at and adoring her work while they dine to be able to share it. Now it's here, on the internet, for everyone to see.
Moving on! If you're a Mom yourself, or maybe in charge of putting together plans for your Mom, Grandma, wife, or otherwise, we're filling up fast for this 2nd race next month, but we'd still love to see you. We're whipping up a really tasty sweet treat for this too - my Mom's banana bread we are making into French toast. Of course, we have to do all of our Chef stuff to it, so instead of regular sugar we're making a delicious banana oleo saccharum with the banana peels to really amp up the flavor of both the banana dough and the French toast batter! It's SO good, if you're a banana fan like we are, it'll knock your socks off.
Regardless of that it's not too late to get your reservation booked for the weekend. Even if you can't make it on Sunday I always like to remind everyone that we do breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, Monday through Sunday! Bring Mom on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...it'll be much more quiet in here if you'd like a more relaxing celebration!
Even if you can't make it here we hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. See you soon!
